Game day checklist

Hurlstone Park Wanderers is a community club that promotes playing football in an inclusive manner, with respect for opponents, officials, and for the love of the game.

Teams should arrive at least 30 min before their scheduled kick-off so that the players have time to warm up and Managers can do paperwork and pay the officials. Games that start late due to admin issues will be cut short. Teams on field set up should arrive 45 min before kick-off.

We expect our teams to assist in the weekly operation of the grounds, in the setting up of fields, and the packing away of fields. We also expect our teams to have the mandatory Team Official, in the yellow vest, present at every game they play, to assist and observe ground officials.

At the end of the game, all players/Coaches/Managers should shake hands with their opponents, and thank them for the game. Coaches/Managers should shake hands with the officials and thank them for their efforts. See our Covid Guidelines for the most recent recommendations.

Players should move away from the technical zone quickly so that the following game can commence on time. For details on Referee payments, Match sheets, recording of results and payments head to the relevant Resources page.

GAME DAY
The Football Canterbury has the final say on a ground closure. Please the site here to confirm if your field is closed.

The basic rule is that unless the Football Canterbury table is updated to state that your field is closed, you are to assume it is open, and that your game will go ahead. Games can be transferred on occasions, and your Age Coordinator will be in touch if that is the case. Please do not contact Football Canterbury directly.

Field Locations

Football in the Canterbury district is played across the inner west, covering areas such as Roselands, Concord, Balmain to Marrickville, and quite a few suburbs in between.

Football Canterbury maintains a list of field locations that can be accessed on their website here.
