COVID19 Update 17 March 2020
Dear Hurlstone Park Players, Parents and Supporters,
We are following up our previous email with an update in relation to COVID19 and its impact on the 2020 season.
Yesterday, our governing bodies (FFA, Football NSW and CDSFA) have made the difficult decision that, in the interests of player and community safety, our season will be delayed until the beginning of May. Importantly, this means that all football activities are suspended immediately until 14 April. This includes all training, trial games, meetings, education and information sessions and coaching or skills workshops.
In light of this the following planned events are cancelled or postponed until a later date, to be advised
Monday night skills sessions
All scheduled trial games (internal and external)
Coach and Manager Information Night
Senior Teams Information Night
Goal keeper training
Grassroots information night
All coach training sessions
Miniroos, Miniref info sessions
Any other football activities that we may not have mentioned – if you are unsure, the answer is that they will not be going ahead, but please feel free to check!
We appreciate that this is disappointing for everyone, but also provides some clarity.
We also appreciate that this decision has not been made lightly, and reflects other decisions about infection control measures across the community.
This is an unprecedented situation, and we need to play our part in minimising the impact of the pandemic.
We know that there will be many questions you have, and we do not yet have the answers to all of these. Please be patient, and we will update you with more information as it comes to light.
At this stage, it is hoped and planned that we will be able to resume pre-season activities from 15 April, and that the season will commence from the beginning of the May.
Very importantly, we ask that all our members respect this decision and the reasons for it. This means not organising informal training sessions or games, and most importantly not placing any expectations on people to attend any football related activities. Please do not organise social kickarounds or similar activities.
We are exploring options to put as much as possible of our pre-season information to teams and team officials on line. This may take some time, so please be patient.
Given the expectation and hope that the season will commence in May, as well as the burden on our volunteers, we are not able to consider any requests for refunds at this stage. Legally we are unable to refund Active Kids Vouchers – Office of Sport have confirmed that this is not possible. Please do not ask us to do this, as this is out of our hands.
We realise that there may be players with financial hardship as a result of the current situation. If you are in this circumstance, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org
If you have any other questions, please send us an email by reply to this email. We will do our best to answer.
We also ask that if you have questions please send them to our club, and not to the CDSFA. This is in line with our requests throughout the season. Your club and your team manager, age coordinator and the committee will do our best to answer, and if we cannot we will forward the question. Please respect this.
Finally, we have included links below to the communiques from CDSFA. And we ask that you follow our email updates, social media and website for any further updates.
Thank you for your forbearance in these challenging times.
And remember, wash your hands regularly with soap and water, maintain social distance and take the time to practice your juggling skills (which can be done individually!)
