Charity Round is an initiative supported by the Hurlstone Park Wanderers Committee. In 2017, Charity Round to be held, weather permitting, during 20-21 May.
What is Charity Round?
Charity Round is an opportunity for the club to come together to support a range of charities.
Charity Round began as an idea of the 2015 O35/3 Mens team to raise money to support the then HPWFC 16/1’s fundraising to compete in the Kanga Cup. The team passed around the hat and managed to raise over $580 to help those lads out with their travel and accommodation costs.
As they say, from little things, big things grow, and that idea grew into a fund raising plan to raise money for some football related charities through an annual Charity Day. Last year, through a range of fundraising activities, the team (by now the O35/4’s) raised over $3000 to support the following charities:
Our team is very much a family football team and the club is a Family orientated club. These charities were chosen as they have a focus on footballers and families.
This year the HPWFC Committee has decided to encourage club wide participation and promote Charity Round for all teams in the club. Each team can do as little or as much as they choose but we are encouraging you to get involved in any way that you can.
How your team can get involved?
There are five ways you team can support Charity Round:
Last year the team supported the McGrath Foundation ‘#pullupyoursocks’ day by wearing pink socks for one of our games. This year we are encouraging other teams to join in and wear pink socks for Charity Round.
If your team chooses to get involved it is suggested that each player donates money through the club ($10 a player for Junior teams and $15 a player for Senior teams) and in return for the donation each player will receive a pair of pink Stanno socks to wear on game day during Charity Round and keep for future use.
If your team would like to be involved by purchasing a set of Pink socks, contact email@example.com by 17 April 2017 with Team details, number of socks required and sizings.
Another great way to raise money for charity while enhancing your football fun is get the team together post-match during Charity Round. Roster on some plates, cakes and drinks with a nominal donation. Invite family and friends, celebrate charity round and promote the benefits of the chosen charities.
All monies raised can then be donated from your team through the committee or https://www.gofundme.com/hurlers-charity-round-2017.
The O35/4 Mens Team will also be organizing a Charity Trivia Night on the Friday Night before Charity Round on 19 May 2017 at Petersham Bowling Club.
Charity Trivia Night will be open to players, family and friends of HPWFC. If you know your General and Football trivia, or even if you don’t, get the team together and book a table. Prizes for the winning table, raffles and auctions will be run on the night.

A special HPWFC Pink Charity Round Jersey is available to be purchased by teams to wear during Charity Round.
Price is $50 per player. This includes a Nike Park VI Jersey, club crest, ‘Charity Round’ Text, personalized name, your choice of squad number and a donation. Men and Kids styles available.
