The Women’s GMT trial that was to take place at Yatama on Sunday February 10th, 2019 has been postponed.
An updated mid-week Wednesday trial, starting at 6:30 at Ewen Park will be set up in its place.
The date of this Wednesday trial will be announced in the coming week.
The purpose of grading is to ensure when we submit teams into the Canterbury competition, they are playing with peers of similar ability to other teams in the association.
U9 note – U9 (Mixed) is the first year we grade players at Hurlstone Park Wanderers. For this reason, additional notes have been provided where relevant.
Does my child need to grade?
Grading is not compulsory. It is really only for those who wish to be considered for the higher division teams (eg. Division 1).
U9 note – In U9s, we typically grade our top 3 teams. Because it is our first year in the competition (where other Clubs elect to do this in U8s), we typically request to enter the top graded team into Division 2,
Do I need to attend both sessions?
If your age group specifies 2 grading sessions, it is strongly advised that you attend both sessions. In some age groups, a second session may be required. You will be notified if this is the case.
U9 note – attendance at both grading sessions is strongly advised. If you can only make 1 session, the first session is preferable.
What if I can’t make it to a grading session?
Please notify the Coaching Coordinator and your relevant Age Coordinator if you wish to attend a grading session but are unable. Contact details below.
If my child does not want to grade, what are my options?
Hurlstone Park Wanderers is all about providing the opportunity for all to play football. If you DO NOT wish to be considered for grading, you can do the following:
To contact your Age Coordinator, go to http://hurlstoneparkwanderers.com.au/about-us/age-coordinators/
When is grading on?
All information about Grading is located at http://hurlstoneparkwanderers.com.au/players/grading/
Do you have a Div 1 team?
We do not have Division 1 teams in every age group. Contact the relevant Age Coordinator for more information.
U9 note – In U9s, we typically enter our highest graded team into Division 2. There is a re-grading opportunity where results are reviewed midway into the season should the team be more suited to Division 1.
When will I know the results of the grading?
Results are typically communicated by your Age Coordinator, up to 2-3 weeks after the final grading session, if not earlier.
Who runs the grading sessions?
For U9 -12 (mixed/boys), we use an independent body to run the grading sessions. For the Girls (U11-14), Mixed/Boys (U13-16), BBC and GMT, the HPW Grading Sub-Committee will run the grading sessions in association with coaches and experienced players within the Club.
What happens in a grading session?
Grading typically consists of a skills-based session plus a small-sided game.
What information is considered in the grading of teams?
We realise that performance at a grading session is not always indicative of player ability. For that reason, all information available including player history and coach feedback is taken into consideration.

|Dear Hurlstone Park Wanderers Family, |
Welcome to the Hurlstone Park Wanderers Football Club 2019 season!
Registrations are now open for PLAYERS. We will open registration for coaches and managers later this month.
All returning and new players should register by February 11th
While we do not ‘cap’ any of our age groups and will aim to place all players who are registered by this date, we do sometimes need to close registrations depending on total player numbers, so it is best to register early if you can to guarantee your place on a team.
This season all registrations take place in a new online system called “Play Football”.
If you have played with us before, your details will have been moved across to a Play Football Account that you access using the email address
with which you have registered with us before.
You will need to request a new password, and after that the whole process should take less than 10 minutes. As this is a new system for Football
NSW and for us there may be some teething issues so please raise these with us and we will do our best to follow-up as quickly as possible.
All players will need to upload new photo this year. Your photo will need to passport style and have been taken in the most recent 12 months. If you use an iPhone to take your photo, you might need to take it with the phone horizontal, as we have noticed some glitches with flipping photos.
NSW Government Active Kids rebate
If you are registering a junior player and intend to use the $100 Active
Kids Rebate you will need to have their voucher number ready before
registering online as the amount will be deducted automatically from
To receive the rebate, please register on the link below –
The NSW Government will provide a $100 voucher to parents/guardians of school enrolled children (5 – 18 years’ old). You will be asked to enter that voucher number during registration of your child.
HPW Family Rebate
The club will continue to offer a family rebate in the 2019 season.
This rebate applies to Junior players only. The rebate of $25 per
registration applies to the third or more registration within the same
family, provided that all players for whom the rebate is sought are juniors. For example, for a HPWFC playing parent who is registering two or
more children, the rebate applies to the second child and any additional
children. If there are two HPWFC playing parents in the same family the rebate will apply to the first and any additional children. The rebate will be available after all registrations are completed and will be via a form
that can be downloaded from our website.

Click here to register player who is 18 OR OLDER
There is a small increase from 2018 and the reason for this increase is that FFA and FNSW have increased the amount that FNSW and FFA charge they charge clubs for affiliation.
The Play Football system will calculate the total costs as you go through registration- please ignore anything but the final amount charged- the final amount should be consistent with the table below.
|Over 18 FT Student||$360.00|
|10 to 17years||$290.00|
|8 or 9 years||$240.00|
|7 years or Younger||$215.00|
Grading will take place in accordance with the HPWFC Grading Policy for u9-u16 (mixed and boys teams) for u11-u14 (girls teams) and for the BBC and GMT teams. Grading dates are 3rd and 10th February 2019. Any player wishing to be considered for a graded team must attend at least one grading session.
If grading is required for other age groups your age coordinator will be in contact.
Age groups and Age Coordinators
For the purposes of age-eligibility, your age group is defined by the age you turn this year. For example, a player who turns 9 any time in 2019 is eligible to play U9- whether their birthday is in January or December.
If you want to discuss team placement or have any questions about the season, your first point of contact should be the relevant age coordinator. Contact details can be found on the link below:
Contact the Registrar
If you re having any difficulties with registration, please contact me at email@example.com I would prefer you to email rather than call- it is better if I can keep a record of the issues that people are having with registration.
|Our 2019 registrations will be available on Monday 7 January. This year we have a new Registrar (me) and a new Registration system, so what could possibly go wrong??|
I’m sending this email in anticipation of some issues that have come up with the registrations we have attempted so far. It might be wise to print this out and have it next to your computer when you register:
Here are some things you may need to know before registering this year, as the process is a little different from previously
YOU WILL NEED A NEW PHOTO. I know that the one from 15 years ago that you’ve been using all your playing career is gorgeous (if not entirely accurate), but photos WILL NOT carry over from the previous system (other details will), and this system will not let you proceed without a photo. As far as we can tell, photos taken with an iPhone in ‘portrait’ mode upload sideways, and then the system allows 180 degree rotations- so you just get different sorts of sideways. Safest to take one with the phone upright and one with it horizontal, then just upload whichever works.
EMAIL ADDRESS IS EVERYTHING. In the previous system, you logged in with your FFA number as your user ID – this system links everything about you to your email address. When you first log in, it will ask for your email address and a password – the simplest thing will be to request a new password (which will come to your email address). When you log in, it will offer you the option to link registrations to that address, and should show you all existing prior registrations associated with that email address (eg you, your children etc). You can then select who you are registering. What this means is that if you registered yourself or others in previous years with an email address that you no longer use, THAT email address is the only way to access your previous registration details. Once you are in the system, you can change it to another address.
YOU WILL BE OFFERED A SMORGASBORD OF PACKAGES. When you first go to access the login page, you may see every ‘package’ that HPW is offering this year- there are about 30 of them. Scroll around until you find the right one for your age, gender and playing history – there may be several packages that apply to you (eg over 30s women are also eligible for All Age Women)- hopefully you know which group you are playing in, but if in doubt talk to your Age Co-ordinator or your 2018 coach or manager.
GET YOUR ACTIVE KIDS VOUCHER BEFOREHAND. If you are applying a NSW Active Kids voucher to any of your registrations, have it available as you register- the online form will require you you to enter the voucher number during registration.
PLEASE EMAIL ME RATHER THAN PHONING IN THE FIRST INSTANCE.
If things go horribly wrong, please email me at Registrar@hurlstoneparkwanderers.com.au . My phone number is also listed in the system, but like everyone else, I’ll be at work next week. It is much better for all of us if I can accumulate a bit of a log of problems over a few days, and then reply to everyone once we have sorted out a solution.I’ll send a separate “How To…” email tomorrow, but I just thought I’d let you know about some of the traps for young players beforehand

Hurlstone Park Wanderers Football Club
Hurlstone Park Wanderers has teamed up with Heartbeat of Football to provide all club members a free heart health testing day on Saturday, July 28 at Ewen Park.
Heartbeat of Football, one of our supported Charity Round charities for the last two years, is a not-for-profit organisation established in early 2016 by Andy Paschalidis, a former Hurlstone Park Wanderers himself in his younger days. As a club we are fully supportive of their efforts and also raising awareness of the health of all our members.
Heartbeat of Football Health Check booths will be open from 12 Noon to 4pm. All players, coaches, managers, supporters, volunteers and friends are welcome.
The Health Check Booth test for blood pressure, cholesterol and glucose levels with results and if needed recommendations for further GP checks provided. There is no fee, nor are appointments or bookings are required. Just turn up to Ewen on the day.
We encourage all members over the age of 30 to come down. heartbeatoffootball.com.au/
